Every trading day has a shape. Session Patterns lets you study them.
Some days trend from the open. Some spend the morning going nowhere and move late. Days that land on a data release, a quarter end or an expiration tend to behave like each other. Session Patterns puts every ES session we have on file into one place, sorted by the kind of day it was, so you can see how similar days played out before the next one starts.
Calendar
Session strata
A calendar of sessions shaded by how wide each day traveled, marked by its shape (trend up, trend down or mixed) and outlined by its day type. Upcoming sessions show the day types already known from the economic and expiration calendar.
Connections
Day-type constellation
Each session is a dot, linked to the day-type hubs it carries. Click a hub and the calendar, the day-type profile and the playback switch to that type, so you can move from a question to the days that answer it in one click.
Pattern playback
How these days unfolded
Every session of a chosen day type laid over one another from the open, with the median path drawn through them. Press play to watch the day build from the opening bell to the close.
Analog finder
What the next session looks like
Describe tomorrow: the session date, the volatility backdrop, where the prior day closed in its range and how wide it was. The finder returns the past sessions that match best and overlays how they traded.
Closing auction
Imbalance seismograph
The closing imbalances on file, side by side, with quarter-end sessions set apart so you can compare how the final minutes looked when the calendar mattered most.
Road ahead
Typed days in the next quarter
The sessions coming up that already carry a day type, so the dates worth preparing for are visible weeks in advance.
Where the data comes from
Each session is built from market data: the session's high, low, close and range, its intraday path, the volatility reading and the calendar of releases and expirations. The knowledge base refreshes after each session closes. When the release calendar is not on file, the page says so instead of hiding it.
What it is not
Session Patterns is a study tool. It shows how past sessions behaved; it does not predict the next one, and it is not a trade signal or advice. Similar days can and do end differently.
Included with every paid membership
Session Patterns lives in the members dashboard next to the market briefing.
Past market behavior is not a guarantee or reliable indicator of future results. Trading futures and options involves substantial risk. Nothing here is investment advice.
