At 7,739.50, Monday’s high in the December S&P 500 contract ran 39.50 points through the top of the 7,692 to 7,700 short zone in our Monday outlook and 21.50 points through its 7,718 stop. The band traded. So did the stop. The low of 7,651.75 printed beneath the first two targets, 7,674 and 7,652, the second by 0.25 point. The daily bar cannot say which came first, so no fill and no result is asserted. The contract settled at 7,714.50.
Monday broke the slide. December E-mini futures settled at 7,714.50, up 54.75 points or 0.71 percent, after an 87.75 point session from 7,651.75 to 7,739.50. Higher high, higher low. The gain ended a run of two lower settles and was the largest one-day gain since the 121.00 points of 09/21. The settle was the highest since the 7,800.25 of 10/21. It finished at 71.5 percent of the range, which ran 1.07 times the 14-day average daily range of 81.75 points. The S&P 500 cash index closed at 7,676.77, up 53.09 or 0.70 percent. Technology led a narrower advance. The Fed meeting begins Tuesday.
December S&P 500 futures settled at 7,714.50 on Monday. That sits beneath the 5-day, 9-day, 20-day and 50-day settlement averages, from 7,726.75 to 7,776.25, and above the 100-day at 7,694.50 and the 200-day at 7,416.25. The primary setup for Tuesday is a short from 7,738 to 7,746, beneath Pivot R1 at 7,752.08. The stop is 7,760, above Pivot R1 and the 7,757.73 conversion of the desk note’s 7,720 resistance, and the targets are 7,724, 7,706 and an extended 7,688. The whole band sits above the settle, its bottom 23.50 points up. The first target also sits above the settle, by 9.50 points, and the second 8.50 beneath it. Per the desk note’s model levels, the 7,676.77 cash close sits 40.77 points above the 7,636 modeled gamma-flip level (ES pair 7,673.8), 88.23 beneath the 7,765 modeled volatility threshold (ES pair 7,802.8) and 13.23 beneath the 7,690 desk pivot. In the review’s judgment the first-order scheduled item on Tuesday is the durable goods report the calendar lists for 8:30 AM ET, with the FOMC statement and two large technology results on Wednesday.
Monday’s 7,739.50 high ran through the 7,692 to 7,700 band and the 7,718 stop
In Monday’s outlook we set a short from 7,692 to 7,700. Its stop sat at 7,718. The targets were 7,674, 7,652 and an extended 7,630. Monday’s completed bar, from the review and the dated 2026-10-26 row, opened at 7,690.00 at the Sunday 6:00 PM ET reopen, 2.00 points beneath the band bottom. It marked a high of 7,739.50 and a low of 7,651.75, and settled at 7,714.50. The band traded. The high ran 39.50 points above its top, and the low 40.25 beneath its bottom.
The stop traded too. The high finished 21.50 points above 7,718, and the settle 3.50 beneath it. Two targets printed. The low sat 22.25 points beneath the first target, 7,674, and 0.25 beneath the second, 7,652. The extended 7,630 never printed; the low held 21.75 above it. No intraday series is available for Monday. The daily bar fixes the open, the two extremes and the settle, and nothing between them. So it cannot say whether the stop or the targets traded first. No fill and no result is asserted.
The invalidation line held. The card negated its thesis on a settle above two standard deviations resistance at 7,734.50. The high traded 5.00 points above that line, but the test is a settle, and the 7,714.50 settle finished 20.00 beneath it. Its acceptance test, two consecutive 30-minute closes above 7,700, needs 30-minute bars. None exist for Monday. The bar cannot settle that test either way. The settle sat 14.50 above 7,700, and the high 39.50 above it.
The macro override named two legs. The first was a weekend de-escalation in the Gulf that pulls crude and yields lower. December WTI settled at 101.76, down 1.46 percent, while the ten-year yield index closed at 4.99 percent against 4.98. The review records no confirmed de-escalation; its Gulf items are statements carried by the news feed, set out below. The second leg was a broad recovery ahead of the week’s results. The S&P 500 cash index rose 0.70 percent, the Nasdaq-100 cash index 1.09 percent and the Dow industrials 0.28 percent. The override’s scenario, a move through the 7,718 stop, printed in the daily bar. Its references, two standard deviations resistance at 7,734.50 and Pivot R2 at 7,739.92, sat 5.00 beneath and 0.42 above the 7,739.50 high.
One of our three full-day ranges held. The high-range case, 7,578 to 7,741, held with the high 1.50 points beneath its top and the low 73.75 above its bottom. The mid-range case, 7,606 to 7,735, lost its top by 4.50 points; its bottom held by 45.75. The low-range case, 7,630 to 7,705, lost its top by 34.50 while its bottom held by 21.75. The afternoon band of 7,585 to 7,740 contains the whole daily bar. It could not have broken. The night band of 7,630 to 7,705, the London band of 7,620 to 7,712 and the morning band of 7,606 to 7,735 kept their bottoms, since the low sat above all three. Their tops cannot be graded. The high cleared each of them, and the daily bar cannot place it in a session.
The weighted path held its outer frame and missed its lean. Monday’s outlook expected a hold between Pivot S2 at 7,608.42 and Pivot R2 at 7,739.92, with a rebound toward the band that fails beneath Friday’s 7,714.25 high weighted slightly above a recovery. The low finished 43.33 points above S2 and the high 0.42 beneath R2. The high also cleared Friday’s 7,714.25 by 25.25 points, so the lean did not hold. The named alternative, a recovery above the 7,716.75 source pair of the flip level toward two standard deviations resistance at 7,734.50, printed in the high. The settle finished 2.25 points beneath that pair. We grade the card as written. The band traded, the stop traded, two targets printed, and the order is unknown.
Pivot R1 at 7,752.08, the 7,738 to 7,746 band and the 7,760 stop
The basis widened. Monday’s 7,714.50 settle less the 7,676.77 cash close measures 37.73 points, against 36.07 on Friday, and every cash equivalent in this article uses the new figure. The desk note keeps its own 37.8 point offset, so its published futures pairs sit slightly apart: 8,137.8 for the 8,100 call-side ceiling, 8,037.8 for the 8,000 gamma concentration, 7,802.8 for the 7,765 modeled volatility threshold, 7,673.8 for the 7,636 modeled gamma-flip level and 7,537.8 for the 7,500 put-side support base.
Resistance starts 9.50 points up, at the 18-day average stall level of 7,724.00. The 5-day average at 7,726.75 and the 7,727.73 conversion of the desk note’s 7,690 pivot follow within 3.73 points. Then comes the 9-day crossing price for Tuesday at 7,733.00. The band group is next. The 9-day average at 7,737.25 and the 7,737.73 conversion of the note’s 7,700 resistance sit 0.75 and 0.27 beneath the 7,738 band bottom. Monday’s 7,739.50 high (cash 7,701.77), the 38.2 percent retracement from the four-week low at 7,743.62 and the 3-10-16 day MACD stall level at 7,745.14 all sit inside the band.
Pivot R1 at 7,752.08 (cash 7,714.35) sits 6.08 above the band top. The 7,757.73 conversion of the note’s 7,720 resistance and the 40-day crossing price at 7,758.60 follow. All three sit beneath the 7,760 stop, which clears R1 by 7.92, the conversion by 2.27 and the crossing price by 1.40. Above it come the 50-day average at 7,762.00 and one standard deviation resistance at 7,767.76 (cash 7,730.03), the card’s invalidation line. The 50 percent retracement of the four-week range at 7,773.00 and the 20-day average at 7,776.25 follow.
The upper band is crowded. The 18-day crossing price at 7,785.54, Pivot R2 at 7,789.67 (cash 7,751.94) and two standard deviations resistance at 7,789.83 (cash 7,752.10) sit within 4.29 points. Pivot R2 and the deviation line sit 0.16 apart. The 7,796.62 top of the one-range frame, the 7,802.8 threshold pair (cash 7,765) and three standard deviations resistance at 7,806.76 (cash 7,769.03) close the near list.
The extended references sit higher. Pivot R3 at 7,839.83 (cash 7,802.10), the one-month high of 7,897.50 from 10/06 (cash 7,859.77) and the 52-week and 13-week high of 7,905.00 from 08/13 (cash 7,867.27) lead them. The last sits 190.50 points or 2.47 percent above the settle. The 8,037.8 concentration pair (cash 8,000) and the 8,137.8 ceiling pair (cash 8,100) complete the list.
Support starts 7.76 points down, at the 38.2 percent retracement from the 13-week high at 7,706.74. The Pivot Point at 7,701.92 (cash 7,664.19) sits 4.82 beneath it, and the 100-day average at 7,694.50 sits 7.42 beneath the Pivot Point. Monday’s 7,690.00 open (cash 7,652.27) comes next. Then the published target price at 7,685.86 and the 3-10 day crossover stall level at 7,681.71, 4.15 apart. The 7,673.8 flip-level pair (cash 7,636) sits beneath them. Pivot S1 at 7,664.33 (cash 7,626.60) and one standard deviation support at 7,661.24 (cash 7,623.51) sit 3.09 apart, with Friday’s 7,659.75 settle (cash 7,622.02) just beneath.
The lows come next. Monday’s 7,651.75 low (cash 7,614.02) sits 3.25 above Friday’s 7,648.50 (cash 7,610.77), still the one-month low. The 50 percent retracement of the 13-week range at 7,645.50, two standard deviations support at 7,639.17 (cash 7,601.44) and the 7,637.73 conversion of the note’s 7,600 support follow. The one-range frame bottoms at 7,632.38. Three standard deviations support at 7,622.24 (cash 7,584.51) and Pivot S2 at 7,614.17 (cash 7,576.44) sit beneath it. Pivot S3 at 7,576.58 (cash 7,538.85), the 7,537.8 put-side pair (cash 7,500) and the 200-day average at 7,416.25 sit far lower.
Four averages sit above the settle. The 5-day stands 12.25 points over it, the 9-day 22.75, the 20-day 61.75 and the 50-day 47.50. The 100-day sits 20.00 beneath it and the 200-day 298.25 beneath. Each was rounded once to the 0.25 tick from the 259-session settlement series. The 5-day fell 4.00 points from Friday’s 7,730.75 as the 10/19 settle of 7,734.50 left the window and 7,714.50 replaced it. The 20-day fell 1.61 when the 09/28 settle of 7,746.75 dropped out, and the 50-day fell 3.15. The longer stack still rises. The 30 older settlements in the 50-day window averaged 7,752.50, beneath the latest 20, which keeps the 20-day above the 50-day. Older windows sit lower. The 50 older settlements in the 100-day window averaged 7,627.00, and the 100 older settlements in the 200-day window 7,138.00. For Tuesday the averages would be crossed at 7,733.00 for the 9-day, 7,785.54 for the 18-day and 7,758.60 for the 40-day.
Momentum sits in the lower half of its range. On the provider’s published readings, taken at about 6:24 PM ET on Monday after the 6:00 PM ET reopen, relative strength reads 44.31 on the 9-day, 45.92 on the 14-day and 47.45 on the 20-day. The provider may already blend the reopened session’s quote into them. The raw stochastic reads 28.54 percent on the 9-day and 27.67 percent on the 14-day. The smoothed 14-day %K at 15.02 percent sits beneath %D at 24.91 percent. Negative direction leads on both windows. On the 9-day it reads 24.90 against 12.71 with the ADX at 27.11; on the 14-day, 24.37 against 14.11 with the ADX at 17.60. Historic volatility reads 11.82 percent on the 9-day and 10.14 percent on the 14-day.
The composite multi-indicator read published for Tuesday is a hold, with direction shown as bearish and no strength word displayed. The prior session’s snapshot read 40 percent sell, last week’s a hold and last month’s 56 percent buy. The short-horizon group averages 20 percent sell and the medium-horizon group 25 percent sell. The long-horizon group reads 67 percent buy. The trend indicator reads hold.
Ranges widened a little. The 14-day average true range stands at 82.12 points and the 14-day average daily range at 81.75. The 9-day figures are 84.26 and 97.42 and the 20-day figures 80.93 and 80.86, all read after the reopen with the oscillators’ caveat. Monday’s 87.75 point range was 1.07 times the 14-day average daily range, the widest since the 122.00 of 10/22. One average true range either side of the settle frames Tuesday between 7,632.38 and 7,796.62. The deviation bands are tighter. They run 7,661.24 to 7,767.76 at one deviation, 7,639.17 to 7,789.83 at two and 7,622.24 to 7,806.76 at three. Built from five settlements, they describe settlement dispersion only. The desk note’s implied one-day move of 0.61 percent equals about 46.83 points on the 7,676.77 cash close, and its implied five-day move is 1.48 percent.
Zoom out. Daily ranges over the last ten sessions ran 29.50, 138.75, 84.50, 133.50, 96.25, 87.00, 61.25, 122.00, 65.75 and 87.75 points. Settlement changes over the same stretch read minus 2.25, minus 85.50, plus 20.75, minus 86.75, plus 30.25, plus 20.75, plus 45.00, minus 95.75, minus 44.75 and plus 54.75. Settlements ran 7,855.75, 7,770.25, 7,791.00, 7,704.25, 7,734.50, 7,755.25, 7,800.25, 7,704.50, 7,659.75 and 7,714.50. Monday’s bar left a 24.50 point body above the open. Its upper shadow above the settle measures 25.00 points and its lower shadow beneath the open 38.25. The settle sits 62.75 above the low and 25.00 beneath the high. The high sat 25.25 above Friday’s 7,714.25 and the low 3.25 above Friday’s 7,648.50. No four-hour series was captured. Swing structure rests on daily bars. The retracement grid for Tuesday adds the 38.2 percent level from the 13-week high at 7,706.74, the 38.2 percent level from the four-week low at 7,743.62, the 50 percent level of the four-week range at 7,773.00 and the 50 percent level of the 13-week range at 7,645.50.
Semiconductors rose 2.82 percent as technology led a narrower advance
Monday’s bar carries no clock. It opened at 7,690.00 at the Sunday 6:00 PM ET reopen, 30.25 points above Friday’s settle, and settled 24.50 points above that open. No intraday series exists for the session. The news items below keep their own times, and none is tied to a price move. Globex reopened at 6:00 PM ET on Monday, so prices on the provider’s overview page after that hour belong to the Tuesday session. The settlement stays at 7,714.50.
Leadership was narrow. The semiconductor index rose 2.82 percent and the Nasdaq-100 cash index 1.09 percent, against 0.70 percent for the S&P 500 cash index, 0.29 percent for the NYSE composite and 0.28 percent for the Dow industrials. The review reads that as an advance led by technology and narrower in the broader indices. The desk note named semiconductor shares as the leaders of the advance.
Company news ran heavy around AI. At 9:03 AM ET the news feed carried an AI developer’s application to list on the Nasdaq, and at 9:21 AM ET a press report that it targets the week of November 16. From 4:22 PM ET to 4:24 PM ET the feed carried a 63 billion dollar AI financing with a chipmaker and the chipmaker’s agreement to supply AI accelerators for lease to the AI developer. Two press reports added to it. A press report carried before the open said a social-media company is seeking to raise as much as 95 billion dollars from stock sales to fund AI expansion. Another press report said a software company will offer buyouts to about 60,000 workers. None of these items is tied to a price move here.
Gulf diplomacy filled the feed. At 9:10 AM ET the news feed carried the start of a meeting in Tehran between Iran and senior Saudi, Pakistani and Turkish officials, and at 11:47 AM ET the agreement to continue those talks. At 3:36 PM ET it carried Iranian state television saying Iran is open to a shorter US proposal timeline if conditions are met. The provider’s commentary cited the President’s Sunday remark that it is decision time on a deal with Iran. Trade headlines ran alongside. At 3:27 PM ET the feed carried a press report that the US and Canada are working on a deal to ease tariffs on steel and autos, and at 4:34 PM ET Canada’s prime minister saying he is not willing to sign the terms offered in August. These are statements carried by the news feed rather than events confirmed for this review. No causal link to the index is drawn.
Crude fell and gold rose. December WTI settled at 101.76, down 1.46 percent, and December gold at 4,038.4, up 0.76 percent. The provider’s commentary linked the equity gain to the lower crude, and the same commentary noted that no US or Israeli strike on Iran came over the weekend. That link is the provider’s commentary. These items coincided with the session. No intraday series is available, so no move is attributed to any one of them.
Rates barely moved. The ten-year yield index closed at 4.99 percent against 4.98 percent, and the dollar index at 101.96 against 101.81. Two regional releases printed, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. The Chicago Fed national activity index printed 0.07 against a forecast of minus 0.095 at 8:30 AM ET, and the Dallas Fed manufacturing index 13.40 against 8.8 at 10:31 AM ET, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. The two-year note auction stopped at a 4.708 percent high yield with a 2.590 bid-to-cover, also per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. A rating agency weighed in. At 2:29 PM ET the news feed carried its note saying broader US price pressures raise inflation persistence risk.
The Fed meeting starts Tuesday. The FOMC meeting begins on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, and the FOMC statement is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists them. Investment-bank commentary carried by the news feed expects the committee to skip a rate increase in October and deliver one in December. Then the note. The desk note reported fixed-strike implied volatility up about one volatility point for this week’s expirations, with the October 29 and October 30 expirations at 16.1 and 16.5 percent. The note read that as expected movement after the Fed decision and technology results.
Implied volatility eased. The S&P 500 volatility index closed at 18.39 against 19.45 and the volatility-of-volatility index at 101.43 against 109.70.
Activity fell back. Monday’s December volume was 1,619,722 contracts on the 2026-10-26 row, against 1,791,568 on the revised 2026-10-23 row, a drop of 171,846 or 9.6 percent. Our Monday outlook carried the preliminary 1,744,080 for Friday. Friday’s open interest now reads 1,946,252 on the revised 2026-10-23 row; that outlook said it was not yet reported. Monday’s open interest was not yet reported.
The weekly positioning report dated October 20, shown on the provider’s overview, puts leveraged-fund long positions at 135,034 contracts and short positions at 506,279. That leaves a net short of 371,245 against 408,726 a week earlier. Asset-manager long positions stand at 1,101,642 and asset-manager short positions at 200,265. The report predates the 10/22 decline and Monday’s gain.
The cash close sits between the model lines. The desk note used is the 5:51 PM ET edition for Monday, read at 6:17 PM ET, and its reference prices are Friday’s closes. Its 7,623 index reference equals Friday’s 7,623.68 cash close, and its 28,957 Nasdaq-100 reference Friday’s 28,957.53. Its narrative states a close of 7,677, up 0.7 percent. That is consistent with the provider’s 7,676.77 close, which this article uses; 7,623 plus 0.7 percent gives 7,676.36, within the rounding of that percentage.
Now the distances, in cash. The close sits 40.77 points above the 7,636 modeled gamma-flip level (ES pair 7,673.8) and 88.23 beneath the 7,765 modeled volatility threshold (ES pair 7,802.8). It sits 176.77 above the 7,500 put-side support base (ES pair 7,537.8) and 423.23 beneath the 8,100 call-side ceiling (ES pair 8,137.8). The largest gamma concentration sits at 8,000 (ES pair 8,037.8), 323.23 points above the close. In the desk note’s model, gamma tilt reads 0.817 and gamma notional minus 685.987 million dollars. The modeled threshold and flip level are model outputs; neither is an option strike.
The note draws its own map. Its summary lists resistance at 7,700, 7,720, 7,750 and 7,800, support at 7,600 and 7,400 and a desk pivot at 7,690, with key strikes at 8,000, 7,000, 7,700 and 7,600, all in cash. The close sits 13.23 points beneath that desk pivot. At the measured basis the pivot converts to 7,727.73, the 7,700 resistance to 7,737.73, the 7,720 resistance to 7,757.73 and the 7,600 support to 7,637.73. Then the narrative. The note said it remains skeptical of equity bounces beneath the desk pivot. It said a break of 7,600 would point toward the 7,300s and that a recovery of 7,700 would shift it toward a more constructive stance. It named positions too. It described same-day positioning that included roughly 9,000 contracts of short call spreads at 7,705 and 7,000 contracts of long put spreads at 7,595. It also described a real-time hedging flow measure for S&P 500 shares of about minus 1.2 billion dollars in net delta on modest put buying, and traders cautious about adding risk ahead of the Fed decision and results. Those characterisations are the note’s, and no directional read is drawn from them here. Statements in the note about the order of intraday moves are excluded, because no intraday series is available to place them.
The note’s implied one-day move is 0.61 percent, about 46.83 points on the 7,676.77 close, and its implied five-day move 1.48 percent. Its implied one-day high and low of 7,694.2 and 7,600.9 are quoted as published. The consoles add detail. The S&P 500 positioning console, read at about 6:18 PM ET with a page date of 2026-10-26, shows model call gamma of minus 3.05 billion against put gamma of minus 3.73 billion. It puts one-month implied volatility at 14.88 percent against realised volatility of 9.62 percent, the implied-volatility rank at 29.07 percent, the skew rank at 25.60 percent and the put-to-call open-interest ratio at 1.46. A second console follows. The console for the S&P 500 exchange-traded fund shows call gamma of minus 2.03 billion against put gamma of minus 4.43 billion, a skew rank of 38.40 percent and a put-to-call open-interest ratio of 2.13.
Two gamma measures appear here. The desk note’s gamma notional and the consoles’ gamma fields come from different models and timestamps. They are not reconciled here, and neither is summed with the other. The consoles’ live price fields and high and low volatility point fields were not used.
Damping is the question for Tuesday. In the review’s interpretation a cash close above the modeled gamma-flip level but beneath the desk pivot and the modeled volatility threshold, with negative gamma notional, describes an environment where dealer hedging is less likely to dampen moves. That reading carries no direction of its own. In the review’s reading, the desk note’s stance places the burden of proof on further gains. The primary setup sells the 7,738 to 7,746 band. The 7,737.73 conversion of the note’s 7,700 resistance sits just beneath it, Pivot R1 sits above it, and the 7,760 stop sits beneath the 7,802.8 source pair of the threshold.
The trade map for Tuesday
The primary setup is a short from 7,738 to 7,746. The settle sits beneath the 5-day, 9-day, 20-day and 50-day averages, and negative direction leads on the 9-day and 14-day directional systems. The composite reads hold with direction bearish. The cash index closed beneath the desk pivot and the modeled threshold, with negative gamma notional. Now the band. It holds Monday’s 7,739.50 high, 1.50 points above its bottom, along with the 7,743.62 retracement and the 7,745.14 MACD stall level, 0.86 beneath its top. The 7,737.73 conversion of the note’s 7,700 resistance sits 0.27 beneath the bottom. The whole band sits above the settle. Its bottom sits 23.50 points up, and its top 6.08 beneath Pivot R1 at 7,752.08. Then the stop. It sits at 7,760, 7.92 above Pivot R1, 2.27 above the 7,757.73 conversion of the note’s 7,720 resistance and 1.40 above the 7,758.60 crossing price. Targets step down. The first, 7,724, sits at the 18-day stall level and 9.50 above the settle. The second, 7,706, sits 0.74 beneath the 7,706.74 retracement, 4.08 above the Pivot Point and 8.50 beneath the settle. The extended 7,688 sits 2.14 above the 7,685.86 target price. The evidence against is plain. Monday printed a higher high and a higher low, and the cash close sits 40.77 points above the modeled flip level, so a further advance before any reversal is a live alternative. The review calls the setup an analyst judgment that rallies are sold beneath the desk pivot ahead of the Fed decision. No measured edge stands behind it.
Now the arithmetic. From the 7,742 midpoint the risk to the stop is 18 points, 21.9 percent of the 14-day average true range of 82.12. The targets sit 18, 36 and 54 points beneath the midpoint. Exact multiples. The band sits wholly above the settle, its bottom 23.50 points up and its top 31.50. So the first target, 7,724, also sits above the settle, 9.50 points over it. Only the second and third sit beneath it. A one-range frame from the settle, 7,632.38 to 7,796.62, ends 36.62 points above the stop and reaches 55.62 beneath the extended target. The invalidation line at 7,767.76 sits 53.26 points above the settle.
The session bands are the review’s analyst judgment. Globex reopened at 6:00 PM ET on Monday, October 26, 2026 near the settle. Through the night session to 3:00 AM ET Tuesday the review expects roughly 7,690 to 7,745, with a neutral bias beneath Pivot R1 at 7,752.08. Australian consumer prices are listed at 8:30 PM ET and the New Zealand rate decision at 9:00 PM ET, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. London, from 3:00 AM to 8:00 AM ET, runs roughly 7,680 to 7,750 with a neutral bias. French consumer confidence is listed at 3:45 AM ET and eurozone money supply at 5:00 AM ET, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. Those labels need care. The review names the Pivot Point the first meaningful support and Pivot R1 the first meaningful resistance for London. The numbers put the 7,706.74 retracement between the settle and the Pivot Point, and nine references from 7,724.00 to 7,745.14 between the settle and Pivot R1.
The cash-session bands, also analyst judgment, are wider. The advance durable goods report is scheduled for 8:30 AM ET, as the calendar lists it, and the 9:30 AM ET cash open sets the session’s first directional test. New home sales follow at 10:00 AM ET, as the calendar lists it, and the consumer confidence survey is listed at 10:00 AM ET, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. The morning band, 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM ET, runs roughly 7,662 to 7,768. One standard deviation support at 7,661.24 sits 0.76 beneath its bottom. One standard deviation resistance at 7,767.76 sits inside it, 0.24 beneath its top. The afternoon band, 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET, runs 7,648 to 7,790, its edges near Friday’s 7,648.50 low and Pivot R2 at 7,789.67. The five-year note auction is listed at 1:00 PM ET, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. The scenario ranges, also analyst judgment, run 7,680 to 7,750 for the low-range case, 7,661 to 7,768 for the mid-range case, the most likely, and 7,632 to 7,797 for the high-range case.
The week fills in after that. The FOMC meeting begins on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as the calendar lists it, and results from a card-payments company follow Tuesday’s close, as the calendar lists them. Wednesday carries the decision. The FOMC statement is set for 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists it. Results from a search-advertising company and a software company come after that close, and from an online retailer after the close on Thursday, October 29, as the calendar lists them. Data comes Thursday morning. The advance estimate of third-quarter GDP and the September personal income and outlays report are set for 8:30 AM ET on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as the calendar lists them. In the review’s judgment the first-order scheduled item on Tuesday is the durable goods report the calendar lists for 8:30 AM ET. In the same judgment, Wednesday’s statement and results are the week’s first-order events.
One path is weighted. In the review’s analyst judgment the most probable path holds the contract between Pivot S1 at 7,664.33 and Pivot R2 at 7,789.67. In the same judgment, a rebound toward the 7,738 to 7,746 band that stalls beneath Pivot R1 at 7,752.08 is weighted slightly above an extension. It rests on judgment. The review weighs it that way because the settle sits beneath the 5-day to 50-day averages and negative direction leads on both directional systems. The composite reads hold with direction bearish, and the cash close sits beneath the desk pivot and the modeled threshold with negative gamma notional. One alternative is named. A cash recovery of 7,700, which the desk note itself names as a shift toward a constructive stance, could carry the contract above Pivot R1 toward one standard deviation resistance at 7,767.76 and Pivot R2 at 7,789.67, and would invalidate the reading. The review flags that risk itself. Monday printed a higher high and a higher low and the cash close sits above the flip level, so a further advance before any reversal is a live alternative.
Monday’s high ran 39.50 points through the old band; Tuesday’s band starts 23.50 points above the settle, with that 7,739.50 high inside it.

1. Executive Summary
The December S&P 500 contract settled at 7,714.50 on Monday, up 54.75 or 0.71 percent from Friday's settle of 7,659.75, after trading between 7,739.50 and 7,651.75, an 87.75 point daily range. The settle finished at 71.5 percent of the range, and the 87.75 point range was 1.07 times the published 14-day average daily range of 81.75 points. Monday printed a higher high and a higher low against Friday, the 54.75 point gain was the largest one-day gain since the 121.00 point gain of 09/21, and the settle was the highest since the 7,800.25 settle of 10/21. The gain ended a run of two consecutive lower settles.
The S&P 500 cash index closed at 7,676.77, up 53.09 or 0.70 percent, so the December contract settled 37.73 points above cash against 36.07 on Friday. The Nasdaq-100 cash index rose 1.09 percent and the semiconductor index 2.82 percent, while the Dow industrials rose 0.28 percent and the NYSE composite 0.29 percent, so technology led a narrower advance. The news feed carried at 9:03 AM ET an AI developer's filing for an initial public offering on the Nasdaq. The provider's commentary linked the gain to lower crude, and the same commentary noted that no US or Israeli strike on Iran came over the weekend. Separately, the news feed carried talks in Tehran between Iran and senior Saudi, Pakistani and Turkish officials. These items coincided with the session; no intraday series is available, so no move is attributed to any one of them.
The evening desk note places the cash close 13.23 points beneath its desk pivot at SPX 7,690, 88.23 points beneath the modeled volatility threshold at SPX 7,765 and 40.77 points above the modeled gamma-flip level at SPX 7,636, with negative gamma notional. The composite multi-indicator read is "HOLD" with direction "Bearish", and the settle sits beneath the 5-day, 9-day, 20-day and 50-day averages and above the 100-day and 200-day.
The volatility index fell to 18.39 from 19.45 and the ten-year yield index closed at 4.99 percent. The published 14-day average true range is 82.12 points. The primary setup is a short from the 7,738 to 7,746 band beneath Pivot R1 at 7,752.08, stopped at 7,760, with objectives at 7,724, 7,706 and an extended 7,688.
2. Price Action & Technical Structure
2.1 Intraday and Session Review
The Monday session opened at 7,690.00 at the Sunday 6:00 PM ET reopen, 30.25 points above Friday's settle, marked a daily high of 7,739.50 and a daily low of 7,651.75, and settled at 7,714.50. This review makes no claim about the order in which the high and the low printed; the daily bar fixes the open, the extremes and the settle, and that is the evidence used here.
The settle sits 62.75 points above the low and 25.00 points beneath the high, in the upper part of the session's range.
Globex reopened at 6:00 PM ET, so the open, high and low shown on the provider's overview page, 7,715.00, 7,718.75 and 7,714.25, belong to the new Tuesday session and not to Monday's completed session. The provider's previous close of 7,714.50 is Monday's settle.
Monday's completed-session extremes are the completed-session inputs behind the published pivot ladder rather than an independently read bar. Pivot R3 at 7,839.83 minus Pivot S3 at 7,576.58, divided by three, returns 87.75, and Pivot R2 at 7,789.67 minus Pivot S2 at 7,614.17, divided by two, returns the same 87.75. Three times the Pivot Point of 7,701.92 less the 7,714.50 settle gives a high plus low sum of 15,391.26, against 15,391.25 for the pair of 7,739.50 and 7,651.75, a difference within the published rounding, and that pair reproduces all seven published rungs.
The provider's settlement row and the chart's completed daily bar carry the same 7,690.00 open, 7,739.50 high, 7,651.75 low and 7,714.50 settle.
2.2 Daily Structure
Monday's 7,739.50 high sits 25.25 points above Friday's 7,714.25, and the 7,651.75 low sits 3.25 points above Friday's 7,648.50, so the session printed a higher high and a higher low. The settle above the 7,690.00 open leaves a body of 24.50 points, an upper shadow of 25.00 points above the settle and a lower shadow of 38.25 points beneath the open.
Settlements over the last ten sessions ran 7,855.75, 7,770.25, 7,791.00, 7,704.25, 7,734.50, 7,755.25, 7,800.25, 7,704.50 and 7,659.75 before Monday's 7,714.50. Friday's 7,648.50 low remains the provider's published one-month low, the one-month high is 7,897.50 from 10/06, and the 13-week and 52-week high is 7,905.00 from 08/13.
2.3 4-Hour and Swing Structure
Daily ranges for the last ten sessions ran 29.50, 138.75, 84.50, 133.50, 96.25, 87.00, 61.25, 122.00, 65.75 and 87.75, so Monday's range was the widest since the 122.00 range of 10/22. The settlement changes over the same ten sessions read minus 2.25, minus 85.50, plus 20.75, minus 86.75, plus 30.25, plus 20.75, plus 45.00, minus 95.75, minus 44.75 and plus 54.75.
The retracement grid published for Tuesday places the 38.2 percent retracement from the 13-week high at 7,706.74, 7.76 points beneath the settle, the 38.2 percent retracement from the four-week low at 7,743.62 and the 50 percent retracement of the four-week range at 7,773.00. Beneath, the 50 percent retracement of the 13-week range sits at 7,645.50. No four-hour series was captured for this session, so swing structure here rests on daily bars only.
2.4 Moving Averages
The averages cited in this subsection were computed from the provider's daily settlement series for the December contract, which holds 259 completed sessions through Monday; the partial Tuesday row of the reopened Globex session was dropped before counting, and each figure was rounded once to the 0.25 tick. The 5-day average stands at 7,726.75, the 9-day at 7,737.25, the 20-day at 7,776.25, the 50-day at 7,762.00, the 100-day at 7,694.50 and the 200-day at 7,416.25.
The 7,714.50 settle sits 12.25 points beneath the 5-day average, 22.75 points beneath the 9-day, 61.75 points beneath the 20-day and 47.50 points beneath the 50-day, and 20.00 points above the 100-day and 298.25 points above the 200-day. The 5-day average fell 4.00 points from Friday's 7,730.75, because the 10/19 settle of 7,734.50 left the window and was replaced by 7,714.50. The 20-day fell 1.61 points, because the 09/28 settle of 7,746.75 left that window, and the 50-day fell 3.15 points.
The 20-day average sits above the 50-day because the 30 older settlements in the 50-day window averaged lower, at 7,752.50, than the last 20. The 50-day sits above the 100-day because the 50 older settlements in the 100-day window averaged lower, at 7,627.00, and the 100-day sits above the 200-day because the 100 older settlements in the 200-day window averaged lower, at 7,138.00. The projection grid gives the prices at which each average would be crossed on Tuesday: 7,733.00 for the 9-day, 7,785.54 for the 18-day and 7,758.60 for the 40-day.
2.5 Oscillator and Trend Readings
The oscillator figures below are as published on the provider's technical page, read at about 6:24 PM ET on Monday after the 6:00 PM ET reopen, so the provider may already be blending the reopened session's quote into them; they are the provider's published readings, and none was computed for this review. As published, the 9-day relative strength reads 44.31, the 14-day relative strength 45.92 and the 20-day relative strength 47.45.
The 9-day raw stochastic reads 28.54 percent and the 14-day raw stochastic 27.67 percent, while the 14-day stochastic %K reads 15.02 percent and the 14-day stochastic %D 24.91 percent, so %K sits beneath %D in the lower part of the range.
The 9-day directional index ADX reads 27.11 with the 9-day +DI at 12.71 and the 9-day -DI at 24.90; the 14-day directional index ADX reads 17.60 with the 14-day +DI at 14.11 and the 14-day -DI at 24.37, so negative direction leads on both. The 9-day historic volatility reads 11.82 percent and the 14-day historic volatility 10.14 percent.
The composite multi-indicator read published for the Tuesday session is "HOLD", with direction shown as "Bearish" and no strength word displayed, and the composite trend indicator reads hold. The short-term group reads "Average: 20% SELL", the medium-term group "Average: 25% SELL" and the long-term group "Average: 67% BUY". The snapshot comparisons read "40% SELL" for yesterday, "HOLD" for last week and "56% BUY" for last month.
2.6 Volatility and Expected Range
The published 14-day average true range stands at 82.12 points and the 14-day average daily range at 81.75 points; the 9-day average true range is 84.26 with a 9-day average daily range of 97.42, and the 20-day average true range is 80.93 with a 20-day average daily range of 80.86. These were read after the reopen and carry the same caveat as the oscillators. Monday's 87.75 point range was 1.07 times the 14-day average daily range.
Adding and subtracting the 14-day average true range of 82.12 points from the 7,714.50 settle frames Tuesday between 7,632.38 and 7,796.62. The published standard-deviation bands are built from five settlements and centre on the settle: one deviation spans 7,661.24 to 7,767.76, two spans 7,639.17 to 7,789.83 and three spans 7,622.24 to 7,806.76. The desk note's implied one-day move is 0.61 percent and its implied five-day move 1.48 percent.
3. Key Levels
3.1 Resistance
Above the 7,714.50 settle, the first overhead references are the 18-day average stall level at 7,724.00, the 7,727.73 conversion of the desk pivot at SPX 7,690, the 9-day average crossing price at 7,733.00 and the 7,737.73 conversion of the desk note's SPX 7,700 resistance, followed by Monday's 7,739.50 high, the 38.2 percent retracement from the four-week low at 7,743.62 and the 3-10-16 day MACD stall level at 7,745.14. Pivot R1 at 7,752.08, the 7,757.73 conversion of SPX 7,720 and one standard deviation resistance at 7,767.76 form the next band, with Pivot R2 at 7,789.67, two standard deviations resistance at 7,789.83 and the source's December pair of the modeled volatility threshold at 7,802.8 above. Three standard deviations resistance at 7,806.76 and Pivot R3 at 7,839.83 are the extended references.
3.2 Support
Beneath the settle sits the 38.2 percent retracement from the 13-week high at 7,706.74, then the Pivot Point at 7,701.92, the published target price at 7,685.86 and the 3-10 day crossover stall level at 7,681.71. The source's December pair of the modeled gamma-flip level at 7,673.8, Pivot S1 at 7,664.33 and one standard deviation support at 7,661.24 form the next band, with Monday's 7,651.75 low and Friday's 7,648.50 low, the one-month low, beneath. The 7,637.73 conversion of the desk note's SPX 7,600 support, Pivot S2 at 7,614.17 and the source's December pair of the put side support base at 7,537.8 are the extended references.
4. Macro Drivers
4.1 Dollar, Rates, and Fed Policy
The dollar index closed at 101.96 against 101.81 on Friday, and the ten-year yield index closed at 4.99 percent against 4.98 percent. The Chicago Fed national activity index printed 0.07 against a forecast of minus 0.095 at 8:30 AM ET and the Dallas Fed manufacturing index printed 13.40 against 8.8 at 10:31 AM ET, and the US two-year note auction stopped at a 4.708 percent high yield, all per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. A rating agency note carried by the news feed at 2:29 PM ET said broader US price pressures raise inflation persistence risk.
The FOMC meeting begins on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as the calendar lists it, and the FOMC statement is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists it. Investment-bank commentary carried by the news feed expects the committee to skip a rate increase in October and deliver one in December.
4.2 Large-Cap Leadership and Earnings
The news feed carried at 9:03 AM ET an AI developer's application to list on the Nasdaq and a press report at 9:21 AM ET that it targets the week of November 16, and at 4:22 PM ET to 4:24 PM ET a 63 billion dollar AI financing with a chipmaker and the chipmaker's agreement to supply AI accelerators for lease to the AI developer. A press report carried before the open said a social-media company is seeking to raise as much as 95 billion dollars from stock sales to fund AI expansion. A press report also said a software company will offer buyouts to about 60,000 workers.
Results from a card-payments company are scheduled after the close on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as the calendar lists them. Results from a search-advertising company and the software company are scheduled after the close on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists them. Results from an online retailer are scheduled after the close on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as the calendar lists them.
4.3 Geopolitical Backdrop
The news feed carried at 9:10 AM ET the start of a meeting in Tehran between Iran and senior Saudi, Pakistani and Turkish officials, at 11:47 AM ET the agreement to continue those talks, and at 3:36 PM ET Iranian state television saying Iran is open to a shorter US proposal timeline if conditions are met. The provider's commentary cited the President's Sunday remark that it is decision time on a deal with Iran. On trade, the feed carried at 3:27 PM ET a press report that the US and Canada are working on a deal to ease tariffs on steel and autos and at 4:34 PM ET Canada's prime minister saying he is not willing to sign the terms offered in August. These are statements carried by the news feed rather than events confirmed for this review.
4.4 Sector Breadth and Rotation
The semiconductor index rose 2.82 percent and the Nasdaq-100 cash index 1.09 percent, against 0.70 percent for the S&P 500 cash index, 0.29 percent for the NYSE composite and 0.28 percent for the Dow industrials, so the advance was led by technology and was narrower in the broader indices. The desk note named semiconductor shares as the leaders of the advance.
4.5 Cross-Asset and Volatility
December WTI settled at 101.76, down 1.46 percent, and December gold at 4,038.4, up 0.76 percent. The S&P 500 volatility index closed at 18.39 against 19.45 on Friday and the volatility-of-volatility index at 101.43 against 109.70. The desk note reported fixed-strike implied volatility up about one volatility point for this week's expirations, with the October 29 and October 30 expirations at 16.1 and 16.5 percent, reflecting expected movement after the Fed decision and technology results.
4.6 Institutional Positioning
The weekly positioning report dated October 20, shown on the provider's overview, puts leveraged-fund long positions at 135,034 contracts and leveraged-fund short positions at 506,279, for a net short of 371,245 against 408,726 a week earlier. Asset-manager long positions stand at 1,101,642 and asset-manager short positions at 200,265. The report predates the 10/22 decline and Monday's gain.
Open interest on the December contract is shown at 1,946,252 for Friday in the provider's record, and Monday's open interest had not been reported at the time of capture; Monday's December volume was 1,619,722 contracts against 1,791,568 on Friday.
5. SPX Options Flow Context
The desk note used for this section is the 5:51 PM ET edition for Monday, read at 6:17 PM ET. Its reference prices are the prior session's closes, not Monday's: SPX 7,623 equals Friday's 7,623.68 cash close and NDX 28,957 equals Friday's 28,957.53. The note's narrative states a close of 7,677, up 0.7 percent, consistent with the provider's 7,676.77 close, and 7,623 plus the stated 0.7 percent gives 7,676.36, within the rounding of that percentage; every level below is read against the provider's close.
On the index the primary call side ceiling sits at SPX 8,100, the largest gamma concentration at SPX 8,000, the modeled volatility threshold at SPX 7,765, the modeled gamma-flip level at SPX 7,636 and the primary put side support base at SPX 7,500. The close sits 423.23 points beneath the ceiling, 323.23 points beneath the largest concentration, 88.23 points beneath the threshold, 40.77 points above the flip level and 176.77 points above the put side base. Gamma tilt reads 0.817 and gamma notional minus 685.987 million dollars. The note's summary lists resistance at 7,700, 7,720, 7,750 and 7,800, support at 7,600 and 7,400 and its desk pivot at 7,690, 13.23 points above the close, and its key strikes are SPX 8,000, 7,000, 7,700 and 7,600.
The note publishes its own December futures pair for each level, carrying the source's 37.8 point offset rather than the measured 37.73 point basis: the ceiling at 8,137.8, the largest concentration at 8,037.8, the modeled volatility threshold at 7,802.8, the modeled gamma-flip level at 7,673.8 and the put side support base at 7,537.8. These are quoted as the source's pairs. The modeled threshold and flip level are model outputs, not option strikes. At the measured basis the desk pivot of SPX 7,690 converts to 7,727.73, the SPX 7,700 resistance to 7,737.73, the SPX 7,720 resistance to 7,757.73 and the SPX 7,600 support to 7,637.73.
The narrative said the note remains skeptical of equity bounces beneath the desk pivot, that a break of SPX 7,600 would point toward the 7,300s and that a recovery of 7,700 would shift it toward a more constructive stance. It described same-day positioning that included roughly 9,000 contracts of short call spreads at 7,705 and 7,000 contracts of long put spreads at 7,595, a real-time hedging flow measure for S&P 500 equities of about minus 1.2 billion dollars in net delta on modest put buying, and traders cautious about adding risk ahead of the Fed decision and results. Statements in the note about the order of intraday moves are excluded, because no intraday series is available to place them.
The note's published implied one-day high and low are 7,694.2 and 7,600.9, quoted as published.
The S&P 500 positioning console, read at about 6:18 PM ET with a page date of 2026-10-26, shows call gamma of minus 3.05 billion against put gamma of minus 3.73 billion, one-month implied volatility of 14.88 percent against realised volatility of 9.62 percent, an implied-volatility rank of 29.07 percent, a skew rank of 25.60 percent and a put-to-call open-interest ratio of 1.46. The console for the S&P 500 exchange-traded fund shows call gamma of minus 2.03 billion against put gamma of minus 4.43 billion, a skew rank of 38.40 percent and a put-to-call open-interest ratio of 2.13. The consoles' live price fields and their high and low volatility point fields are treated as low-confidence and excluded.
In this review's interpretation a cash close above the modeled gamma-flip level but beneath the desk pivot and the modeled volatility threshold, with negative gamma notional, describes an environment where dealer hedging is less likely to dampen moves, and the desk note's stance places the burden of proof on further gains. The primary setup sells the 7,738 to 7,746 band, just above the 7,737.73 conversion of the note's SPX 7,700 resistance and beneath Pivot R1 at 7,752.08, with the 7,760 stop beneath the 7,802.8 source pair of the threshold.

6.6 Expected Range (Tuesday Full Session)
Low-range scenario: 7,680 to 7,750
Mid-range scenario (most likely): 7,661 to 7,768
High-range scenario: 7,632 to 7,797
6.7 Most Likely Path
In this review's analyst judgment the most probable path holds the contract between Pivot S1 at 7,664.33 and Pivot R2 at 7,789.67, with a rebound toward the 7,738 to 7,746 band that stalls beneath Pivot R1 at 7,752.08 weighted slightly above an extension. The settle sits beneath the 5-day to 50-day averages, negative direction leads on both directional systems, the composite reads "HOLD" with direction "Bearish", and the cash close sits beneath the desk pivot and the modeled volatility threshold with negative gamma notional.
The alternative that would invalidate this reading is a cash recovery of SPX 7,700 that the desk note itself names as a shift toward a constructive stance, which could carry the contract above Pivot R1 at 7,752.08 toward one standard deviation resistance at 7,767.76 and Pivot R2 at 7,789.67. Monday printed a higher high and a higher low and the cash close sits above the flip level, so a further advance before any reversal is a live alternative.
7. Tuesday Economic Calendar
Monday's releases are complete. The Chicago Fed national activity index printed 0.07, the Dallas Fed manufacturing index printed 13.40 and the US two-year note auction stopped at a 4.708 percent high yield with a 2.590 bid-to-cover, all per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. The cash session closed at 4:00 PM ET.
On Tuesday, October 27, 2026 French consumer confidence is listed at 3:45 AM ET and eurozone money supply at 5:00 AM ET, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. The advance durable goods report is scheduled for 8:30 AM ET on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as the calendar lists it, with a news-feed consensus of 1.9 percent against minus 0.1 percent previously, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. New home sales are scheduled for 10:00 AM ET on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as the calendar lists it, and the consumer confidence survey is listed at 10:00 AM ET, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. The five-year note auction is listed at 1:00 PM ET, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed, the FOMC meeting begins on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as the calendar lists it, and results from the card-payments company follow the close on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as the calendar lists them.
Later in the week, the FOMC statement is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists it. Results from the search-advertising company and the software company are scheduled after the close on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists them. The advance estimate of third-quarter GDP and the September personal income and outlays report are scheduled for 8:30 AM ET on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as the calendar lists them. In this review's judgment the first-order scheduled item on Tuesday is the durable goods report the calendar lists for 8:30 AM ET, with the week's first-order events the FOMC statement and the results from the search-advertising company and the software company on Wednesday, as the calendar lists them.
8. Primary Trade Setup
Direction: Short
Rationale: The settle sits beneath the 5-day to 50-day averages, negative direction leads on the 9-day and 14-day directional systems, the composite reads "HOLD" with direction "Bearish", and the cash index closed beneath the desk pivot and the modeled volatility threshold with negative gamma notional. A rebound into the 7,738 to 7,746 band, just above the 7,737.73 conversion of the desk note's SPX 7,700 resistance and around the 7,743.62 retracement, offers a short with a defined risk point above Pivot R1 at 7,752.08. Monday's higher high and higher low and the cash close above the flip level leave room for a further advance, so the setup is an analyst judgment that rallies are sold beneath the desk pivot ahead of the Fed decision, not a measured edge.
Entry Zone: 7,738 to 7,746
Stop Loss: 7,760 (above Pivot R1 at 7,752.08 and the 7,757.73 conversion of SPX 7,720)
Target 1 (T1): 7,724 (at the 18-day average stall level at 7,724.00)
Target 2 (T2): 7,706 (just beneath the 38.2 percent retracement at 7,706.74 and above the Pivot Point at 7,701.92)
Target 3 (T3, extended): 7,688 (above the published target price at 7,685.86)
Risk-to-Reward: Approximately 1:1 to T1, 1:2 to T2, 1:3 to T3
Invalidation: A settle above one standard deviation resistance at 7,767.76 negates the thesis. Short of that, the edge is removed by acceptance above the entry band rather than by a touch, defined as two consecutive 30-minute closes above 7,746.
Macro override: A cash recovery of SPX 7,700 with a firmer advance in technology shares, or a decisive drop in yields, would undercut the short. In that scenario a move through the 7,760 stop invalidates the setup before the targets, and one standard deviation resistance at 7,767.76 becomes the reference, 7.76 points beyond the stop and inside one 14-day average true range of 82.12 points.
Sources and methodology
This outlook is built from our session review of the December E-mini S&P 500 contract, the December ’26 contract, prepared after Monday’s close on October 26, 2026 for the Tuesday, October 27, 2026 session. Monday’s completed extremes are the inputs behind the published pivot ladder: Pivot R3 at 7,839.83 less Pivot S3 at 7,576.58, divided by three, and Pivot R2 at 7,789.67 less Pivot S2 at 7,614.17, divided by two, both return 87.75, and three times the 7,701.92 Pivot Point less the settle gives a high-plus-low sum of 15,391.26, which the pair of 7,739.50 and 7,651.75 reproduces to the published rounding at 15,391.25. The provider’s settlement row and the chart’s completed Monday daily bar carry the same 7,690.00 open, 7,739.50 high, 7,651.75 low and 7,714.50 settle. Those figures and the review’s own statements are the only evidence used to grade Monday’s card. No intraday series is available for Monday, so no order of events within the session is stated. Friday’s volume now reads 1,791,568 contracts on the revised 2026-10-23 row, which replaces the preliminary 1,744,080 carried in Monday’s outlook, and that row’s open interest now reads 1,946,252; that post was not changed. Monday’s open interest was not yet reported. Globex reopened at 6:00 PM ET, so the overview page’s open, high and low after that hour belong to the Tuesday session and are not used as Monday’s range.
The moving averages were computed from the provider’s 259-session daily settlement series through Monday and rounded once to the 0.25 tick; the partial row of the reopened Tuesday session was dropped first. The oscillators and range averages are cited as published, read at about 6:24 PM ET on Monday after the reopen, so the provider may already blend the reopened session’s quote into them. The desk note used is the 5:51 PM ET edition for Monday, October 26, read at 6:17 PM ET; its reference column carries Friday’s closes and its futures column a fixed 37.8 point translation, so cash equivalents here use the 37.73 point basis measured on Monday, settlement against cash close. The note’s implied one-day high and low pair is quoted as published, and its statements about the order of intraday moves are excluded because no intraday series is available to place them. The desk note’s gamma notional and the consoles’ call and put gamma are separate model measures from different timestamps; they are shown side by side, each with its source, and never combined. The consoles’ live price and high and low volatility point fields are not used. The weekly positioning report is dated October 20. Scenario ranges are analyst judgment. Items marked unconfirmed come from the news-feed calendar, and every catalyst whose release time had passed at the time of writing is recorded as completed.
Monday’s outlook for this contract is here, and the Nasdaq-100 contract’s Monday outlook set the levels for the index whose cash close rose 1.09 percent on Monday. Outlooks for ES, NQ, GC and CL are collected on the market outlook page, and our forward trading record is on the performance statement.
