At the Monday 6:00 PM ET reopen the December Nasdaq-100 contract opened at 29,480.50, 43.25 points above Monday's settle and 119.50 points beneath the short band we published for Tuesday. The day then ran through most of that card. The band traded, the stop price traded, and the first two targets printed. The extended target did not. A daily bar cannot say in what order.
The contract settled at 29,812.00, up 374.75 points, or 1.27 percent, at 88.3 percent of a 593.25 point range. That was the largest one-day gain since the 867.50 of 09/21 and the highest settle since the 30,007.00 of 10/21. It was a second straight higher settle. The Nasdaq-100 cash index rose 1.29 percent to 29,651.44, and the semiconductor index jumped 3.60 percent. The Fed speaks next.
December Nasdaq-100 futures settled at 29,812.00, up 374.75 points, with a higher high and a higher low on a 593.25 point range, the widest since 10/22. Tuesday's published short band at 29,600 to 29,640 traded, the 29,740 stop price traded, and the 29,500 and 29,380 targets printed, while the 29,260 extended target did not; the daily bar cannot show the order. The settle sits above the 5-day, 9-day and 200-day settlement averages and beneath the 20-day, 50-day and 100-day. The primary setup for Wednesday is a short from 30,000 to 30,040, a band that holds Pivot R1 at 30,032.83, stop 30,140, targets 29,900, 29,780 and an extended 29,660. The band and the first target sit above the settle; the second and third targets sit beneath it. The FOMC statement is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET and the press conference for 2:30 PM ET, as the calendar lists them.
Tuesday’s card: band and stop traded, two targets printed, settle 0.44 short of invalidation
In Tuesday’s outlook we set a short from 29,600 to 29,640, stop 29,740. Its targets sat at 29,500, 29,380 and an extended 29,260. Tuesday's bar, from the review and the provider's 2026-10-27 settlement row, opened at 29,480.50 at the Monday 6:00 PM ET reopen, marked a high of 29,881.25 and a low of 29,288.00, and settled at 29,812.00. The range spanned the whole band. The open sat 119.50 points beneath its bottom. The high cleared its top by 241.25.
The stop price traded too. The high stood 141.25 points above 29,740, and the settle finished 72.00 above it. On the other side, the low sat 212.00 points beneath the first target and 92.00 beneath the second, so both prices printed. The extended 29,260 did not print; the low stopped 28.00 points above it. No intraday series was preserved for Tuesday. So the daily bar cannot show whether the band, the stop or the targets traded first, and no order is asserted here. No fill and no result are asserted either.
The card's settle test held by 0.44 points. Its invalidation needed a settle above one standard deviation resistance at 29,812.44. The settle finished at 29,812.00, just beneath it, though the high cleared that line by 68.81. Its acceptance test needed two consecutive 30-minute closes above 29,640. Without a 30-minute series that test cannot be read bar by bar. The settle itself sat 172.00 points above 29,640.
Its macro override named continued technology leadership ahead of Wednesday's results, or a decisive drop in yields. Technology did lead. The Nasdaq-100 cash index rose 1.29 percent and the semiconductor index 3.60 percent, against 0.60 percent for the S&P 500 cash index. The ten-year yield index closed at 4.99 percent against 4.98, so yields did not drop. The override's reference, one standard deviation resistance at 29,812.44, traded. The review ties no move to any single headline.
Our ranges are scored against the whole day's extremes, which is all the daily bar allows. Two held. The high-range case of 28,900 to 29,970 contained the day, with 388.00 points to spare beneath the low and 88.75 above the high. The afternoon band of 29,060 to 29,890 did too. Its top sat 8.75 points above the high. The low-range case of 29,250 to 29,660 and the most likely case of 29,060 to 29,810 did not, as the high cleared their tops by 221.25 and 71.25 points. The night band missed at both ends. Its 29,300 bottom sat 12.00 points above the low, and the high cleared its 29,620 top by 261.25. London's 29,250 to 29,660 and the morning's 29,120 to 29,810 topped out 221.25 and 71.25 beneath the high. The bar cannot place the high in any one session.
The most probable path, an analyst judgment, kept the contract between Pivot S1 at 29,117.00 and Pivot R2 at 29,892.25. It held. The low stayed 171.00 points above S1, and the high stopped 11.00 beneath R2. The weighted case within it was a rebound toward the band that stalls beneath Pivot R1 at 29,664.75. The bar does not show that. The high cleared R1 by 216.50 points, and the settle finished 147.25 above it. The alternative named technology leadership carrying the contract above R1 toward one standard deviation resistance at 29,812.44 and Pivot R2. The high cleared 29,812.44 by 68.81 and stopped short of R2.
A 160.56 point basis, a crowded band from 29,991.47 to 30,040 and three averages overhead
The basis narrowed to 160.56 points, the 29,812.00 settle less the 29,651.44 cash close, from 163.85 on Monday. The review converts five positioning levels at it. The modeled volatility threshold at NDX 29,300 becomes 29,460.56, the modeled gamma-flip level at NDX 29,199 becomes 29,359.56 and the call side ceiling at NDX 29,675 becomes 29,835.56. The NDX 30,000 and 29,000 key strikes become 30,160.56 and 29,160.56. The conversions are the review's own. The settle sits 23.56 points beneath the ceiling equivalent and 351.44 above the threshold equivalent.
Resistance starts 23.56 points up, at the 29,835.56 ceiling equivalent. Tuesday's 29,881.25 high and the published target price at 29,902.33 follow, 21.08 apart. The 100-day average at 29,948.50 comes next. Then the crowd. The 38.2 percent retracement from the four-week low at 29,991.47, the 3-10 day crossover stall level at 29,992.21 and the 10/21 settle of 30,007.00 sit within 15.53 points. Pivot R1 at 30,032.83 lies 25.83 above that settle, inside Wednesday's short band.
Higher up, the 14-day relative strength projection at 50 percent, 30,087.99, and the 50-day average at 30,089.75 sit 1.76 points apart. The 9-day average stall level at 30,143.75 sits 3.75 above Wednesday's 30,140 stop. The 30,160.56 key-strike equivalent lies 16.81 beyond it. The 40-day crossing price at 30,204.95 and one standard deviation resistance at 30,209.67 sit 4.72 apart. Pivot R2 at 30,253.67, the 18-day crossing price at 30,270.77 and the 50 percent retracement of the four-week range at 30,301.75 follow. The one-ATR line at 30,355.31 and the 20-day average at 30,356.25 sit 0.94 apart. Two standard deviations resistance at 30,374.39 lies just above. Three standard deviations resistance at 30,500.78, the 38.2 percent retracement from the four-week high at 30,612.03 and Pivot R3 at 30,626.08 form the extended band. The 31,616.50 52-week, 13-week and one-month high from 10/06 caps the list, 1,804.50 points up.
Support starts 81.30 points down, at the 30 percent raw stochastic projection at 29,730.70. The Pivot Point at 29,660.42 follows, with Wednesday's 29,660 extended target 0.42 beneath it. Then the averages. The 9-day average at 29,605.50, Monday's 29,572.00 high, the 50 percent retracement of the 13-week range at 29,549.25 and the 9-day crossing price at 29,538.16 sit within 67.34 points. The 5-day average at 29,503.25 and Tuesday's 29,480.50 open come next. The 29,460.56 threshold equivalent, Pivot S1 at 29,439.58, Monday's 29,437.25 settle and one standard deviation support at 29,414.33 sit within 46.23 points.
Lower still sits the 29,359.56 flip equivalent, then Tuesday's 29,288.00 low. The one-ATR line at 29,268.69 and two standard deviations support at 29,249.61 sit 19.08 apart. The 29,160.56 key-strike equivalent and three standard deviations support at 29,123.22 follow, then Pivot S2 at 29,067.17 and Monday's 29,024.00 low. Friday's 28,987.00 low remains the one-month low. Pivot S3 sits at 28,846.33. The 200-day average at 28,408.75 and the 27,482.00 13-week low from 07/29 lie far below.
Three averages sit overhead. The settle sits 136.50 points beneath the 100-day at 29,948.50, 277.75 beneath the 50-day at 30,089.75 and 544.25 beneath the 20-day at 30,356.25. It sits 308.75 above the 5-day at 29,503.25, 206.50 above the 9-day at 29,605.50 and 1,403.25 above the 200-day at 28,408.75. Three sit beneath it. The review computed the averages from 259 completed daily settlements, with the partial Wednesday row dropped, and rounded each once to the 0.25 tick. The 5-day rose from Monday's 29,475.75 as the 10/20 settle of 29,675.25 left the window. The 20-day fell 40.00 from 30,396.25 as the 09/29 settle of 30,613.25 dropped out. Older settlements sit lower. The 30 older ones in the 50-day window averaged 29,912.00, the 50 older ones in the 100-day window 29,807.25 and the 100 older ones in the 200-day window 26,869.25. Wednesday's crossing prices are 29,538.16 for the 9-day, 30,270.77 for the 18-day and 30,204.95 for the 40-day.
Momentum sits mid-range. Relative strength reads 46.70 on the 9-day, 46.32 on the 14-day and 47.27 on the 20-day. The raw stochastics read 66.64 percent on the 9-day and 33.28 percent on the 14-day. The 14-day %K at 18.67 percent sits 4.80 points above %D at 13.87 percent. Sellers still lead both windows. On the 9-day, negative direction at 26.45 tops positive at 17.24 by 9.21, with the ADX at 38.69; on the 14-day, 26.30 tops 17.13 by 9.17, with the ADX at 26.02. Historic volatility reads 23.70 percent and 21.10 percent. These readings are as published, read at about 6:22 PM ET on Tuesday after the 6:00 PM ET reopen. They may already blend in the reopened session's quote.
A composite multi-indicator read published for Wednesday sits at 16 percent sell, with strength described as weak and direction as weakening, against 32 percent sell in the prior session's snapshot. A week ago it read 40 percent sell. A month ago, 88 percent buy. The short-horizon group averages 40 percent sell, the medium 25 percent buy and the long a hold, and the trend indicator reads sell.
This bar had a long body. The settle finished 331.50 points above the 29,480.50 open, with an upper shadow of 69.25 points above the settle and a lower shadow of 192.50 points beneath the open. Tuesday's high topped Monday's by 309.25 points. Its low topped Monday's 29,024.00, on the 2026-10-26 row, by 264.00. The 593.25 point range was 1.01 times the 14-day average daily range of 584.75 and the widest since the 960.25 of 10/22. The 14-day average true range stands at 543.31 points; the 9-day figures are 565.66 and 625.08 and the 20-day figures 530.63 and 541.17, all read after the reopen with the same caveat as the oscillators.
One average true range either side of the settle spans 29,268.69 to 30,355.31. The deviation bands, built from five settlements and centred on the settle, run 29,414.33 to 30,209.67, 29,249.61 to 30,374.39 and 29,123.22 to 30,500.78. They describe settlement dispersion only. Ten sessions of daily ranges read 813.50, 574.25, 956.25, 757.50, 511.75, 385.50, 960.25, 339.00, 548.00 and 593.25 points, and the settlement changes over those sessions net to minus 979.50. No four-hour series was captured, so the swing read rests on daily bars.
A 3.60 percent chip rally, a 1.29 percent Nasdaq-100 gain and a policy statement ahead
Chips outran the index. The Nasdaq-100 cash index closed at 29,651.44, up 378.04 points or 1.29 percent. The semiconductor index rose 399.04 points, or 3.60 percent, to 11,482.51, after trading between 11,527.33 and 11,217.67. The broad market lagged. The S&P 500 cash index rose 0.60 percent and the Dow industrials 0.03 percent, so the Nasdaq-100 outpaced both. The provider's commentary described generally positive earnings results as part of Tuesday's equity advance; that description is the commentary's.
From 12:00 PM ET to 12:05 PM ET the news feed carried a run of partnership announcements from a database-software group. They covered expanded work with a graphics-chip maker on its next accelerator generation, an expanded pact with a processor maker, a partnership with an AI-chip startup, work with an artificial-intelligence lab and the hosting of a search-engine group's tensor processors, as the news feed carried them. At 1:40 PM ET the news feed carried a new world-model release from that search-engine group. At 11:15 AM ET it carried a software maker's AI image-model preview. At 2:00 PM ET the news feed carried a commentary item on cloud spending commitments made by a leading artificial-intelligence developer to an online retailer, the search-engine group and the software maker. These items coincided with the session; with no intraday series preserved, no move is attributed to any one of them.
After the close the news feed carried a payments network's fiscal fourth-quarter results. Adjusted earnings read 3.48 dollars a share against an estimate of 3.44, and net revenue 12.10 billion dollars against 12.09 billion, with the dividend raised 16 percent, per the news feed. At 3:09 PM ET a press report carried by the news feed said several PC makers are shifting some manufacturing back to China because of AI-driven cost increases. It is a press report rather than captured data.
Results crowd the next two days. The search-engine group's results are listed at 4:00 PM ET and the software maker's at 4:05 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. An online retailer and a processor maker report after the close on Thursday, October 29, as the calendar lists them. In the review's judgment the Wednesday results carry into the evening reopen.
Then the Fed. The FOMC statement is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, as the calendar lists it, and the press conference for 2:30 PM ET, as the calendar lists it. The ten-year yield index closed at 4.99 percent against 4.98. The provider's commentary put the market-implied chance of a rate increase at 7 percent for this week and 91 percent for the December 8-9 meeting, figures attributed to that commentary and not verified independently. No real-yield series was captured, so no real-yield level is asserted.
Tuesday's releases are complete. The durable goods report came at 8:30 AM ET, as the calendar lists it, and printed 1.8 percent against a 1.9 percent forecast, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. Consumer confidence printed 91.7 against an 81 forecast, and the five-year note auction stopped at a 4.845 percent high yield, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. New home sales were released at 10:00 AM ET, as the calendar lists it.
Geopolitical items ran through the day. At 6:36 AM ET the news feed carried an item that Iran's supreme leader called for meeting the conditions to end the war. At 3:49 PM ET it carried the President reiterating that oil is flowing out of the Strait of Hormuz. Israel held its election on Tuesday. From 4:00 PM ET the news feed carried exit polls showing no majority for either main bloc, results attributed to the news feed and unconfirmed. These are statements carried by the news feed rather than confirmed events. No causal link to the index is asserted.
Crude fell. December WTI settled at 99.90, down 1.83 percent, and the dollar index closed at 102.32 against 101.96. December gold settled at 4,074.6, up 0.90 percent. The volatility index eased to 17.52 from 18.39.
The cash close sits just beneath one positioning line. The dealer-positioning dataset's reference prices are the prior session's closes: NDX 29,273 corresponds to Monday's 29,273.40 cash close, and QQQ 712 to the fund's previous close of 712.20. Against Tuesday's 29,651.44 close, the index sits 351.44 points above the 29,300 modeled volatility threshold and 452.44 above the 29,199 modeled gamma-flip level. It sits 23.56 points beneath 29,675, where both the call side ceiling and the largest gamma concentration sit. The put side support base at 28,000 lies 1,651.44 points beneath the close. The index model's gamma tilt reads 1.027 and its gamma notional minus 549.285 thousand dollars, both model outputs. The dataset lists 29,675, 29,000, 30,000 and 28,000 as key index strikes.
On the QQQ proxy the call side ceiling sits at 760, the modeled gamma-flip level at 727, the largest gamma concentration at 720, the modeled volatility threshold at 715 and the put side support base at 700. Those are proxy levels. The fund's gamma tilt reads 0.643 and its gamma notional minus 856.318 million dollars, proxy model outputs. The console, read at about 6:18 PM ET with a page date of 2026-10-27, shows call gamma of minus 1.56 billion against put gamma of minus 2.43 billion. One-month implied volatility reads 22.42 percent against realised volatility of 18.82 percent, 3.60 points apart. The implied-volatility rank reads 51.54 percent, the skew rank 47.20 percent and the put-to-call open-interest ratio 1.4.
In the review's interpretation, drawn from the index model and the QQQ fund proxy, a close above the threshold and flip level but just beneath the call side ceiling, with negative gamma notional on both, makes the ceiling the first test, and dealer hedging can still amplify a move away from it. Gamma stays a damping lens here. It carries no direction. The modeled threshold and flip level are model outputs, not option strikes, and no directional read is drawn from options volume or modeled gamma.
Activity eased. Volume reached 580,617 contracts against Monday's 679,238 on the 2026-10-26 row, a figure revised from the 671,673 carried in Tuesday's outlook. Open interest reads 271,460 on that 2026-10-26 row, which Tuesday's outlook listed as not yet reported; the 2026-10-20 row carries the same figure. That is 14,493 beneath the 285,953 on the 2026-10-23 row. Tuesday's figure is not yet reported. The weekly positioning report dated October 20 puts leveraged-fund longs at 51,749 contracts and shorts at 50,799. That is a net long of 950 against a net short of 11,593 a week earlier. Asset-manager longs stand at 109,985 and shorts at 32,195. The report predates the declines of 10/22 and 10/23 and the two gains since.
The trade map for Wednesday
The primary setup is a short from 30,000 to 30,040. The composite reads 16 percent sell, and negative direction leads on both directional systems. The settle sits beneath the 20-day, 50-day and 100-day averages, and the cash index closed just beneath the call side ceiling, a model output. The band sits 118.75 points above Tuesday's 29,881.25 high. Its bottom sits 8.53 above the 29,991.47 retracement and 7.79 above the 29,992.21 crossover stall level. Pivot R1 at 30,032.83 sits inside it, 7.17 beneath the top. Then the stop. At 30,140 it sits 107.17 points above R1 and 3.75 beneath the 9-day average stall level at 30,143.75. All of the band sits above the settle, 188.00 to 228.00 points up. The thesis, an analyst judgment, is that rallies into Pivot R1 are sold ahead of the decision.
The first target sits at 29,900, 2.33 beneath the 29,902.33 target price and 88.00 above the settle. The second, 29,780, sits 32.00 beneath the settle. Then the extended third. At 29,660 it sits 0.42 beneath the Pivot Point at 29,660.42. Tuesday printed a higher high and a higher low, and the semiconductor strength shows the bounce has momentum. So the review calls the setup an analyst judgment with no measured edge behind it.
Now the arithmetic. From the 30,020 midpoint the risk to the stop is 120 points, 22.1 percent of the 14-day average true range of 543.31. The targets sit 120, 240 and 360 points beneath the midpoint. Exact multiples. The first target, 29,900, sits 100.00 points beneath the band bottom and 88.00 above the settle. The second sits 32.00 beneath the settle. The third sits 152.00 beneath it.
The scenario ranges are analyst judgment. The low-range case runs 29,560 to 30,040 and the most likely 29,410 to 30,210. The high-range case of 29,270 to 30,355 sits close to the one-ATR span of 29,268.69 to 30,355.31. Then the sessions. Globex reopened at 6:00 PM ET on Tuesday near the settle, and the review expects roughly 29,700 to 29,950 through the night, with a neutral bias while the contract holds above the Pivot Point. London follows at 29,660 to 30,000, bias neutral. Its bottom sits 0.42 beneath the Pivot Point, the first pivot support beneath the settle, with the 29,730.70 stochastic projection between them. The published target price at 29,902.33 sits above the 29,835.56 ceiling equivalent and Tuesday's 29,881.25 high. The morning band runs 29,560 to 30,040. Pivot R1 sits 7.17 points inside its top. Pivot S1 sits 120.42 beneath its bottom. The afternoon band runs 29,410 to 30,210. One standard deviation support sits 4.33 points inside its bottom and one standard deviation resistance 0.33 inside its top.
Wednesday's calendar starts overnight. Australian consumer prices are listed at 8:30 PM ET and the New Zealand rate decision at 9:00 PM ET on Tuesday, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. German consumer sentiment is listed at 3:00 AM ET, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. The advance economic indicators report is scheduled for 8:30 AM ET, as the calendar lists it. The cash session opens at 9:30 AM ET. The weekly petroleum status report follows at 10:30 AM ET, as the calendar lists it. Then the decision. The FOMC statement is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET and the press conference for 2:30 PM ET, as the calendar lists them. The cash close follows at 4:00 PM ET. Globex halts at 5:00 PM ET and reopens at 6:00 PM ET. Thursday brings GDP and the personal income and outlays report at 8:30 AM ET, as the calendar lists them.
One path is weighted. In the review's analyst judgment the most probable path holds the contract between one standard deviation support at 29,414.33 and one standard deviation resistance at 30,209.67. Within it, a test of the 30,000 to 30,040 band around Pivot R1 that fails ahead of the FOMC statement is weighted slightly above a sustained break higher. No measured frequency backs it. The alternative is a settle above Pivot R2 at 30,253.67 after the 2:00 PM ET statement. That would open the 18-day crossing price at 30,270.77 and the 20-day average at 30,356.25. On the other side, a fall through Pivot S1 at 29,439.58 would bring the 29,359.56 flip equivalent into play without the test the setup needs. In the review's judgment the first-order event on Wednesday is the 2:00 PM ET FOMC statement. The after-close results from the search-engine group and the software maker carry into the evening reopen.
Tuesday's 29,881.25 high, the top of the widest range since 10/22, now sits 118.75 points beneath Wednesday's short band.

1. Executive Summary
The December Nasdaq-100 contract settled at 29,812.00 on Tuesday, up 374.75 or 1.27 percent from Monday's settle of 29,437.25, after trading between 29,881.25 and 29,288.00, a 593.25 point daily range. The settle finished at 88.3 percent of the range, close to the high, and the 593.25 point range was 1.01 times the published 14-day average daily range of 584.75 points. Tuesday's high sat 309.25 points above Monday's 29,572.00 high and Tuesday's low sat 264.00 points above Monday's 29,024.00 low, so the session printed a higher high and a higher low. The 374.75 point gain was the largest one-day gain since the 867.50 point gain of 09/21, and the 29,812.00 settle was the highest since the 30,007.00 settle of 10/21.
The Nasdaq-100 cash index closed at 29,651.44, up 378.04 or 1.29 percent, and the semiconductor index rose 3.60 percent to 11,482.51, while the S&P 500 cash index rose 0.60 percent and the Dow industrials 0.03 percent. December WTI crude fell 1.83 percent to 99.90, the dollar index closed at 102.32 against 101.96 and the ten-year yield index closed at 4.99 percent against 4.98 percent. The volatility index closed at 17.52 against 18.39.
The news feed carried a run of partnership announcements from a database-software group between 12:00 PM ET and 12:05 PM ET, including expanded work with a graphics-chip maker, a processor maker, an artificial-intelligence lab and a search-engine group, and at 1:40 PM ET a new world-model release from that search-engine group. After the close, the news feed carried a payments network's fiscal fourth-quarter results, with adjusted earnings of 3.48 dollars a share against an estimate of 3.44. These items coincided with the session; no intraday series was preserved for any path claim, so this review does not attribute the move to any one of them.
The cash close sits 351.44 points above the modeled volatility threshold at NDX 29,300 and 23.56 points beneath the primary call side ceiling at NDX 29,675 in the dealer-positioning dataset, with negative gamma notional, a model output, on both the index and the fund. The composite multi-indicator read is "16% SELL", with strength "Weak" and direction "Weakening", and the settle sits beneath the 20-day, 50-day and 100-day averages. The Primary Setup below is a short from the 30,000 to 30,040 band, which holds Pivot R1 at 30,032.83, stopped at 30,140, with objectives at 29,900, 29,780 and an extended 29,660.
2. Price Action & Technical Structure
2.1 Intraday and Session Review
The Tuesday session opened at 29,480.50 at the Monday 6:00 PM ET reopen, 43.25 points above Monday's settle, marked a daily high of 29,881.25 and a daily low of 29,288.00, and settled at 29,812.00. This review makes no claim about the order in which the high and the low printed; the daily bar fixes the open, the extremes and the settle, and that is the evidence used here.
The settle sits 524.00 points above the low and 69.25 points beneath the high. The body of the daily bar measures 331.50 points from the 29,480.50 open to the 29,812.00 settle, with a lower shadow of 192.50 points beneath the open and an upper shadow of 69.25 points above the settle.
Globex reopened at 6:00 PM ET, so the open, high and low shown on the provider's overview page, 29,814.25, 29,830.25 and 29,783.75, belong to the new Wednesday session and not to Tuesday's completed session. The provider's previous close of 29,812.00 is Tuesday's settle.
Tuesday's completed-session extremes are the completed-session inputs behind the published pivot ladder rather than an independently read bar. Pivot R3 at 30,626.08 minus Pivot S3 at 28,846.33, divided by three, returns 593.25, and Pivot R2 at 30,253.67 minus Pivot S2 at 29,067.17, divided by two, returns the same 593.25. Three times the Pivot Point of 29,660.42 less the 29,812.00 settle gives a high plus low sum of 59,169.26, against 59,169.25 for the pair of 29,881.25 and 29,288.00, a difference within the published rounding, and that pair reproduces all seven published rungs.
The provider's settlement row and the chart's completed daily bar carry the same 29,480.50 open, 29,881.25 high, 29,288.00 low and 29,812.00 settle.
2.2 Daily Structure
Tuesday's 29,881.25 high sits 309.25 points above Monday's 29,572.00, and the 29,288.00 low sits 264.00 points above Monday's 29,024.00, so the session printed a higher high and a higher low. Settlements over the last seven sessions read 29,722.50, 29,675.25, 30,007.00, 29,142.00, 29,117.75, 29,437.25 and 29,812.00, so Tuesday made two consecutive higher settles after the declines of 10/22 and 10/23.
The provider's published 52-week, 13-week and one-month high is 31,616.50 from 10/06, the one-month low is Friday's 28,987.00 and the 13-week low is 27,482.00 from 07/29. Over five sessions the contract is up 136.75 points from the 29,675.25 settle of 10/20.
2.3 4-Hour and Swing Structure
Daily ranges for the last seven sessions ran 757.50, 511.75, 385.50, 960.25, 339.00, 548.00 and 593.25, so Tuesday's range was the widest since the 960.25 range of 10/22. The settlement changes over the same seven sessions read plus 331.00, minus 47.25, plus 331.75, minus 865.00, minus 24.25, plus 319.50 and plus 374.75.
The retracement grid published for Wednesday places the 38.2 percent retracement from the four-week low at 29,991.47, 179.47 points above the settle, the 50 percent retracement of the four-week range at 30,301.75 and the 38.2 percent retracement from the four-week high at 30,612.03. No four-hour series was captured, so swing structure here rests on daily bars only.
2.4 Moving Averages
The averages cited in this subsection were computed from the provider's daily settlement series for the December contract, which holds 259 completed sessions through Tuesday; the partial Wednesday row of the reopened Globex session was dropped before counting. The 5-day average stands at 29,503.25, the 9-day at 29,605.50, the 20-day at 30,356.25, the 50-day at 30,089.75, the 100-day at 29,948.50 and the 200-day at 28,408.75.
The 29,812.00 settle sits 308.75 points above the 5-day average, 206.50 above the 9-day and 1,403.25 above the 200-day, and beneath the others: 544.25 points beneath the 20-day, 277.75 beneath the 50-day and 136.50 beneath the 100-day. The 5-day average rose from Monday's 29,475.75, because the 10/20 settle of 29,675.25 left the window and was replaced by 29,812.00. The 20-day fell 40.00 points from 30,396.25, because the 09/29 settle of 30,613.25 left that window.
The 20-day average sits above the 50-day because the 30 older settlements in the 50-day window averaged lower, at 29,912.00. The 50-day sits above the 100-day because the 50 older settlements in the 100-day window averaged lower, at 29,807.25, and the 100-day sits above the 200-day because the 100 older settlements in the 200-day window averaged lower, at 26,869.25. The projection grid gives the prices at which each average would be crossed on Wednesday: 29,538.16 for the 9-day, 30,270.77 for the 18-day and 30,204.95 for the 40-day.
2.5 Oscillator and Trend Readings
The oscillator figures below are as published on the provider's technical page, read at about 6:22 PM ET on Tuesday after the 6:00 PM ET reopen, so the provider may already be blending the reopened session's quote into them; they are the provider's published readings and were not computed here. The 9-day relative strength reads 46.70, the 14-day relative strength 46.32 and the 20-day relative strength 47.27.
The 9-day raw stochastic reads 66.64 percent and the 14-day raw stochastic 33.28 percent, while the 14-day stochastic %K reads 18.67 percent and the 14-day stochastic %D 13.87 percent, so %K sits above %D in the lower part of the range.
The 9-day directional index ADX reads 38.69 with the 9-day +DI at 17.24 and the 9-day -DI at 26.45; the 14-day directional index ADX reads 26.02 with the 14-day +DI at 17.13 and the 14-day -DI at 26.30, so negative direction still leads on both. The 9-day historic volatility reads 23.70 percent and the 14-day historic volatility 21.10 percent.
The composite multi-indicator read published for the Wednesday session is "16% SELL", against the prior session's snapshot of "32% SELL", with signal strength described as "Weak" and direction as "Weakening". The snapshot history reads "40% SELL" a week ago and "88% BUY" a month ago. The short-horizon group averages "40% SELL", the medium-horizon group "25% BUY" and the long-horizon group "HOLD", and the composite trend indicator reads sell.
2.6 Volatility and Expected Range
The published 14-day average true range stands at 543.31 points and the 14-day average daily range at 584.75 points; the 9-day average true range is 565.66 with a 9-day average daily range of 625.08, and the 20-day average true range is 530.63 with a 20-day average daily range of 541.17. These were read after the reopen and carry the same caveat as the oscillators. Tuesday's 593.25 point range was 1.01 times the 14-day average daily range.
Adding and subtracting the 14-day average true range of 543.31 points from the 29,812.00 settle frames Wednesday between 29,268.69 and 30,355.31. The published standard-deviation bands are built from five settlements: one deviation spans 29,414.33 to 30,209.67, two spans 29,249.61 to 30,374.39 and three spans 29,123.22 to 30,500.78. These bands describe settlement dispersion, not intraday reach, and the FOMC statement and the two large-cap results after Wednesday's close can carry the contract outside any of them.
3. Key Levels
3.1 Resistance
Above the 29,812.00 settle, the first overhead reference is the 29,835.56 conversion of the call side ceiling at NDX 29,675 at the measured basis, followed by Tuesday's 29,881.25 high and the published target price at 29,902.33, with the 100-day average at 29,948.50 above them. The 38.2 percent retracement from the four-week low at 29,991.47, the 3-10 day crossover stall level at 29,992.21 and Pivot R1 at 30,032.83 form the next band, with the 14-day relative strength projection at 50 percent, 30,087.99, and the 9-day average stall level at 30,143.75 above. The 30,160.56 conversion of the NDX 30,000 key strike, one standard deviation resistance at 30,209.67 and Pivot R2 at 30,253.67 come next, with two standard deviations resistance at 30,374.39 and Pivot R3 at 30,626.08 the extended references.
3.2 Support
Beneath the settle sits 29,730.70, the 30 percent raw stochastic projection, then the Pivot Point at 29,660.42, the 9-day average at 29,605.50, Monday's 29,572.00 high and the 50 percent retracement of the 13-week range at 29,549.25. The 9-day average crossing price at 29,538.16, the 5-day average at 29,503.25, Tuesday's 29,480.50 open, the 29,460.56 conversion of the modeled volatility threshold, Pivot S1 at 29,439.58, Monday's 29,437.25 settle and one standard deviation support at 29,414.33 form the next band, with the 29,359.56 conversion of the modeled gamma-flip level and Tuesday's 29,288.00 low beneath. Two standard deviations support at 29,249.61, the 29,160.56 conversion of the NDX 29,000 key strike, Pivot S2 at 29,067.17 and Friday's 28,987.00 low, the one-month low, are the extended references.
4. Macro Drivers
4.1 Largest-Company Results and the AI Spending Cycle
Results from a search-engine group and a software maker are listed for Wednesday, October 28, 2026 after the close, at 4:00 PM ET and 4:05 PM ET respectively, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed, and an online retailer's results are scheduled after the close on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as the calendar lists it. The news feed carried at 2:00 PM ET a commentary item on cloud spending commitments made by a leading artificial-intelligence developer to the online retailer, the search-engine group and the software maker, and at 11:15 AM ET the software maker's AI image-model preview.
A payments network's fiscal fourth-quarter results, released after Tuesday's close, showed adjusted earnings of 3.48 dollars a share against an estimate of 3.44 and net revenue of 12.10 billion dollars against 12.09 billion, with the dividend raised 16 percent, per the news feed. The provider's commentary described generally positive earnings results as part of Tuesday's equity advance.
4.2 Semiconductor Cycle and Tech Sector Rotation
The semiconductor index closed at 11,482.51, up 399.04 or 3.60 percent, after trading between 11,527.33 and 11,217.67. The news feed carried announcements from a database-software group between 12:00 PM ET and 12:05 PM ET covering expanded work with a graphics-chip maker on its next accelerator generation, an expanded pact with a processor maker, a partnership with an AI-chip startup and the hosting of the search-engine group's tensor processors. The Nasdaq-100 cash index's 1.29 percent gain outpaced the S&P 500 cash index's 0.60 percent and the Dow industrials' 0.03 percent.
A press report carried by the news feed at 3:09 PM ET said several PC makers are shifting some manufacturing back to China because of AI-driven cost increases. It is a press report rather than captured data.
4.3 Fed Policy and Real Yields (Duration Sensitivity)
The FOMC statement is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists it, and the press conference for 2:30 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists it. The ten-year yield index closed at 4.99 percent against 4.98 percent. The provider's commentary put the market-implied chance of a rate increase at 7 percent for this week and 91 percent for the December 8-9 meeting, figures attributed to that commentary and not verified independently. No real-yield series was captured, so no real-yield level is asserted.
4.4 Geopolitical Backdrop
The news feed carried at 6:36 AM ET an item that Iran's supreme leader called for meeting the conditions to end the war, and at 3:49 PM ET the President reiterating that oil is flowing out of the Strait of Hormuz. Israel held its election on Tuesday, and the news feed carried exit polls from 4:00 PM ET onward showing no majority for either main bloc, results attributed to the news feed and unconfirmed. December WTI crude fell 1.83 percent to 99.90.
4.5 Cross-Asset and Volatility
The volatility index closed at 17.52 against 18.39 on Monday. The dollar index closed at 102.32 against 101.96. Gold's December contract rose 0.90 percent to 4,074.6. The fund's one-month implied volatility of 22.42 percent against realised volatility of 18.82 percent, read on the QQQ console at about 6:18 PM ET, puts implied 3.60 points above realised ahead of the decision and the results.
4.6 Institutional Positioning
The weekly positioning report dated October 20, shown on the provider's overview, puts leveraged-fund long positions at 51,749 contracts and short positions at 50,799, a net long of 950 against a net short of 11,593 a week earlier, and asset-manager long positions at 109,985 against short positions of 32,195. The report predates the declines of 10/22 and 10/23 and the two gains since.
Open interest on the December contract is shown at 271,460 for Monday, on the 2026-10-26 row of the provider's record, the same figure the 2026-10-20 row carries, and Tuesday's open interest is not yet reported; Tuesday's December volume was 580,617 contracts, against 679,238 on Monday's 2026-10-26 row, revised from the 671,673 carried in Tuesday's outlook.
5. QQQ Options Flow Context (Proxy)
This review uses the QQQ fund and the index columns of the dealer-positioning dataset as the proxy for the positioning data available. The dataset's reference prices are the prior session's closes: NDX 29,273 corresponds to Monday's 29,273.40 cash close and QQQ 712 corresponds to the fund's previous close of 712.20 shown on the console.
On the index the modeled volatility threshold sits at NDX 29,300, the largest gamma concentration and the call side ceiling both at NDX 29,675, the modeled gamma-flip level at NDX 29,199 and the put side support base at NDX 28,000. Against Tuesday's 29,651.44 cash close, the close sits 351.44 points above the threshold, 452.44 points above the flip level and 1,651.44 points above the put side base, and 23.56 points beneath the call side ceiling. Index gamma tilt reads 1.027 and gamma notional minus 549.285 thousand dollars, both model outputs, and the key index strikes are NDX 29,675, 29,000, 30,000 and 28,000.
On the fund the modeled volatility threshold sits at 715, the largest gamma concentration at 720, the call side ceiling at 760, the modeled gamma-flip level at 727 and the put side support base at 700. Fund gamma tilt reads 0.643 and gamma notional minus 856.318 million dollars, proxy model outputs. The modeled threshold and flip level are model outputs, not option strikes.
At the measured 160.56 point basis, the December settle of 29,812.00 less the 29,651.44 cash close, this review converts the index threshold to 29,460.56, the flip level to 29,359.56, the call side ceiling to 29,835.56 and the 30,000 strike to 30,160.56 in December futures terms. These conversions are this review's, not the dataset's.
The QQQ console, read at about 6:18 PM ET with a page date of 2026-10-27, shows call gamma of minus 1.56 billion against put gamma of minus 2.43 billion, one-month implied volatility of 22.42 percent against realised volatility of 18.82 percent, an implied-volatility rank of 51.54 percent, a skew rank of 47.20 percent and a put-to-call open-interest ratio of 1.4. The console's high and low volatility point fields are not carried.
In this review's interpretation, drawn from the index model and the QQQ fund proxy, both model outputs, an index close above the threshold and the flip level, but pinned just beneath the call side ceiling with negative gamma notional on the index and the fund, describes an environment where the ceiling is the first test and dealer hedging can still amplify a move away from it; gamma is read as a damping lens with no direction. The setup in section 8 sells the 30,000 to 30,040 band, above the 29,835.56 conversion of the call side ceiling and beneath the 30,160.56 conversion of the 30,000 strike.
6. Forecast
6.1 Night Session (6:00 PM ET Tuesday to 3:00 AM ET Wednesday, Globex and Asia)
Globex reopened at 6:00 PM ET on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 near the settle. Australian consumer prices are listed at 8:30 PM ET and the New Zealand rate decision at 9:00 PM ET on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. Bias neutral while the contract holds above the Pivot Point at 29,660.42, expected band roughly 29,700 to 29,950.
6.2 London Session (3:00 AM to 8:00 AM ET Wednesday)
German consumer sentiment is listed at 3:00 AM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed. Bias neutral, expected band roughly 29,660 to 30,000, with the published target price at 29,902.33 a resistance above the 29,835.56 ceiling conversion and Tuesday's 29,881.25 high, and the Pivot Point at 29,660.42, 0.42 points above the band bottom, the first pivot support beneath the settle, with the 29,730.70 stochastic projection between the settle and it.
6.3 Morning Session (9:30 AM to 12:00 PM ET Wednesday, RTH Open)
The advance economic indicators report is scheduled for 8:30 AM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists it, and the cash open at 9:30 AM ET sets the session's first directional test. Expected band roughly 29,560 to 30,040, with Pivot R1 at 30,032.83 7.17 points inside the top and Pivot S1 at 29,439.58 120.42 points beneath the bottom.
6.4 Afternoon Session (12:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET Wednesday)
The FOMC statement is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists it, and the press conference for 2:30 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists it. Expected band roughly 29,410 to 30,210, with the outer edges near one standard deviation support at 29,414.33, which sits 4.33 points inside the bottom, and one standard deviation resistance at 30,209.67, 0.33 points inside the top.
6.5 Night Session Forward (6:00 PM ET Wednesday)
Globex reopens at 6:00 PM ET on Wednesday after the 5:00 PM ET halt. The search-engine group's results are listed at 4:00 PM ET and the software maker's at 4:05 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed, so the reopen carries the reaction to two of the largest index weights, and the GDP and personal income and outlays reports follow at 8:30 AM ET on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as the calendar lists it.
6.6 Expected Range (Wednesday Full Session)
Low-range scenario: 29,560 to 30,040; Mid-range scenario (most likely): 29,410 to 30,210; High-range scenario: 29,270 to 30,355.
6.7 Most Likely Path
In this review's analyst judgment the most probable path holds the contract between one standard deviation support at 29,414.33 and one standard deviation resistance at 30,209.67, with a test of the 30,000 to 30,040 band around Pivot R1 that fails ahead of the FOMC statement weighted slightly above a sustained break higher. The composite reads "16% SELL" with negative direction leading on both directional systems and the settle beneath the 20-day, 50-day and 100-day averages, while the higher high and higher low and the semiconductor strength argue that the first move can still be up.
The alternative that would invalidate this reading is a settle above Pivot R2 at 30,253.67 after the FOMC statement at 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as the calendar lists it, which would open the 18-day average crossing price at 30,270.77 and the 20-day average at 30,356.25. On the other side, a fall through Pivot S1 at 29,439.58 would bring the 29,359.56 conversion of the flip level into play without the test the setup needs.
7. Wednesday Economic Calendar
Tuesday's releases are complete. The FOMC statement is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET and the press conference for 2:30 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, both as the calendar lists it. The search-engine group's results are listed at 4:00 PM ET and the software maker's at 4:05 PM ET, both per the news-feed calendar and unconfirmed.
Later in the week, GDP and the personal income and outlays report are scheduled for 8:30 AM ET on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as the calendar lists it, and results from an online retailer and a processor maker are scheduled after the close on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as the calendar lists it. In this review's judgment the first-order event for the Nasdaq-100 on Wednesday is the 2:00 PM ET FOMC statement, with the after-close results from the search-engine group and the software maker carrying into the Wednesday evening reopen.
8. Primary Trade Setup
Direction: Short
Rationale: The composite reads "16% SELL", negative direction leads on the 9-day and 14-day directional systems, and the settle sits beneath the 20-day, 50-day and 100-day averages, while the cash index closed just beneath the call side ceiling, a model output. A rise into the 30,000 to 30,040 band, 8.53 points above the 29,991.47 retracement and holding Pivot R1 at 30,032.83, offers a short with a defined risk point beneath the 9-day average stall level at 30,143.75. Tuesday's higher high and higher low and the semiconductor strength show the bounce has momentum, so the setup is an analyst judgment that rallies into Pivot R1 are sold ahead of the decision, not a measured edge.
Entry Zone: 30,000 to 30,040
Stop Loss: 30,140 (above Pivot R1 at 30,032.83 and beneath the 9-day average stall level at 30,143.75)
Target 1 (T1): 29,900 (beneath the published target price at 29,902.33)
Target 2 (T2): 29,780 (beneath Tuesday's 29,812.00 settle)
Target 3 (T3, extended): 29,660 (0.42 points beneath the Pivot Point of 29,660.42)
Risk-to-Reward: Approximately 1:1 to T1, 1:2 to T2, 1:3 to T3
Invalidation: A settle above one standard deviation resistance at 30,209.67 negates the thesis. Short of that, the edge is removed by acceptance above the entry band and not by a touch, defined as two consecutive 30-minute closes above 30,040.
Macro override: A statement or press conference read as easing rate-increase expectations would support the index. In that scenario a move through the 30,140 stop invalidates the short before the targets, and the 30,160.56 conversion of the NDX 30,000 strike becomes the reference, 20.56 points beyond the stop and inside one 14-day average true range of 543.31 points.
Sources and methodology
This outlook is built from our session review of the December E-mini Nasdaq-100 contract, the December ’26 contract, prepared after Tuesday's close on October 27, 2026 for the Wednesday, October 28, 2026 session. Tuesday's open, high, low and settle come from the provider's daily settlement record for the December contract, the 2026-10-27 row, and match the chart's completed daily bar. Tuesday's completed extremes are also the inputs behind the published pivot ladder: Pivot R3 at 30,626.08 less Pivot S3 at 28,846.33, divided by three, and Pivot R2 at 30,253.67 less Pivot S2 at 29,067.17, divided by two, both return 593.25, and three times the 29,660.42 Pivot Point less the settle gives 59,169.26, against 59,169.25 for the pair of 29,881.25 and 29,288.00, a difference within the published rounding. No intraday series was preserved for Tuesday, so no statement in this article places a Tuesday print at a time of day, and Tuesday's card is graded against the daily bar alone. Tuesday's session opened at the Monday 6:00 PM ET reopen, and Wednesday's session opened at the Tuesday 6:00 PM ET reopen. The open, high and low on the provider's overview page, 29,814.25, 29,830.25 and 29,783.75, belong to that new Wednesday session and are not used as Tuesday's range; the provider's previous close of 29,812.00 is Tuesday's settle. Monday's low reads 29,024.00 on the 2026-10-26 row, against the 29,024.25 carried in Tuesday's outlook.
The moving averages are the review's, computed from the provider's daily settlement series for the December contract, 259 completed sessions with the partial Wednesday row dropped, and rounded once to the 0.25 tick. The oscillators and the average true and daily ranges are cited as published, read at about 6:22 PM ET on Tuesday after the 6:00 PM ET reopen, so the provider may already blend the reopened session's quote into them. Volume and open interest come from the provider's daily record: the 2026-10-27 row reads 580,617 contracts with open interest not yet reported, and the 2026-10-26 row now reads 679,238 contracts and open interest of 271,460, the same open-interest figure as the 2026-10-20 row, where Tuesday's outlook carried 671,673 contracts and open interest not yet reported; the 2026-10-23 row reads open interest of 285,953. The weekly positioning report is dated October 20. The dealer-positioning dataset carries Monday's closes in its reference column; every Nasdaq futures equivalent is the review's conversion at the 160.56 point measured basis, the December settlement less the cash close, against 163.85 on Monday. The QQQ fund is a proxy read alongside the index levels. The reading that the ceiling is the first test and that dealer hedging can still amplify a move away from it is the review's interpretation from the index model and that proxy, both model outputs, and gamma is read as a damping lens with no direction; the fund console, dated 2026-10-27, was read at about 6:18 PM ET. The volume and open-interest changes, the ten-session net change and the distances in this article are computed. Scenario ranges are analyst judgment, and items marked unconfirmed come from the news-feed calendar.
